    Topsfield Regional medical reserve corps

mrcThe mission of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to improve the health and safety of communities across the country by organizing and utilizing the services of public health, medical and other volunteers. MRC units are community based groups of volunteers who are willing to donate their time and expertise to respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year. MRC volunteers supplement and assist existing emergency and public health resources when needed .

MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and epidemiologists. Many community members—interpreters, chaplains, office workers, legal advisors, and others—can fill key support positions. The Medical Reserve Corps groups provide on-going training in emergency response skills and medical support for community activities of many kinds.

The Topsfield Regional Medical Reserve Corps was established in 2005 by the Topsfield Board of Health. It is one of eighty-three Medical Reserve Corps Units in Region 1 (covering Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island) and forty-five in Massachusetts. In addition to Topsfield, communities involved in the Topsfield Regional Medical Reserve Corps include Amesbury, Boxford, Georgetown, Ipswich, Merrimac, Middleton, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley and Salisbury. Over 230 individuals are currently enrolled as volunteers.
